Kamala W. Sessoms
Ms. Sessoms is a founding and managing partner at Sessoms Law Group, LLC. Ms. Sessoms is originally from Michigan. In 2004, Ms. Sessoms moved to Atlanta after graduating from Michigan State College of Law. Ms. Sessoms is a highly skilled attorney who has dedicated her practice to handling complex immigration cases involving criminal related charges and criminal cases.
Ms. Sessoms began her legal career as a public defender at the Conflict Defender’s Office. As a public defender, Ms. Sessoms successfully defended hundreds of clients on a myriad of misdemeanor charges included driving under the influence of alcohol, battery, theft charges and traffic related cases. In 2009, Ms. Sessoms with her criminal background began Sessoms & Virguez, LLC. She set her goal to create a firm that would help clients with both criminal and immigration issues.
Ms. Sessoms focuses her practice on handling an array of immigration and criminal matters where the two areas of law converge with one another. In her practice, Ms. Sessoms has handled family immigration matters, humanitarian visas for victims of crimes and business visas for investors and entrepreneurs. She also continues to handle a criminal cases specializing in DUI’s. Ms. Sessoms strives to zealously represent clients both in and out of court and help clients understand and feel comfortable with the entire legal process.
Ms. Sessoms is an active member of American Immigration Lawyers Association local GA-AL chapter and has volunteered at the Latin American Association for citizenship day. Ms. Sessoms has spoken on hot immigration issues including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and “Issues in Family Immigration Law”. Ms. Sessoms and her law partner Mr. Virguez also host a radio show on El Patron, 105.3 FM discussing criminal issues, and La Raza, 102.3 FM discussing both a vast array of issues in immigration and criminal law cases. Ms. Sessoms is available to discuss the ever-changing area of issues surrounding immigration and criminal law at community events.
In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Sessoms is a world traveler and has traveled to Tokyo/Kyoto, Japan; Singapore; Dubai, U.A.E.; Mexico City, Mexico; Managua/Grenada, Nicaragua; London, England; Paris, France; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Montreal, Canada and toured the Yucatan in Mexico. Ms. Sessoms enjoys exploring new countries and experiencing the vast culture in every country she visits.
Ms. Sessoms has also been actively involved in politics and has attended both The White House Project and the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University. Ms. Sessoms is also an active member of Antioch Baptist Church North and enjoys hot yoga, exploring new restaurants, horseback riding and spending time with family.
